About Flam Tap Drumming
In 2016 Ajit established Flam Tap Drumming at the request of friends wanting their children to learn the drum kit in a supportive environment. Using a combination of his own teaching material as well as best-practice rudimental techniques as endorsed by the Percussive Arts Society (PAS), Ajit’s private students have learned to read music and play drum kit scores in a short time. His emphasis on reading music, playing by ear, rhythm awareness, stick control and technique has seen his students develop confidence in their playing, with most having performed publicly in various community settings. This success has led to Flam Tap drumming establishing itself in the Wellington music scene.
Flam Tap Drumming studio contains a 6-piece Gretsch Catalina Birch (acoustic) drum kit, a 6-piece Roland TD-20KX (electric) drum kit, a variety of practice pads, and percussion instruments.
Flam Tap Drumming is named after the Flam Tap, one of Ajit’s favourite PAS rudiments.
Ajit’s desire is to share his skills, knowledge and experience with others. He works well with children who are at a beginner or intermediate level, and he is adept at ascertaining their attention levels, often adjusting his lesson content to maintain their interest for the session. Ensuring students leave every lesson with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction is very important to Ajit.
